This page explains how Natived Spaces handles data and sets the basic terms for using the app. It is written for the current desktop app and hosted AI proxy.

Privacy Policy

Overview

Natived Spaces is a local-first desktop application. Your spaces, notes, reminder cards, slidecards, and app settings are stored as JSON files on your own device. We do not run a cloud database containing your workspace content, and we do not require an account.

Some data leaves your device when the app checks for updates, sends an anonymous launch ping, or when you choose to use an AI feature. Those cases are described below.

Local data stored by the app

  • Spaces, Note pages, Reminder cards, and Slidecard decks
  • App settings, including selected Claude model and onboarding state
  • A randomly generated install ID, also called your anonymous ID or UUID

macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/NativedSpaces/
Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Natived\NativedSpaces\

Data sent when the app launches

On launch, Natived Spaces sends an anonymous usage ping to our Vercel backend. The ping contains your install UUID and an app token used to reject unauthorized requests. We use this to count installs and sessions.

The launch ping does not intentionally include your name, email address, workspace content, device fingerprint, or location. Your IP address and basic request metadata may still be processed by our infrastructure providers as part of normal server operation.

Update checks

The app may check our backend for the latest available version. This request sends the app version and app token. It does not send your install UUID or workspace content.

AI features

AI features are powered by Anthropic's Claude API through our Vercel backend. Your Anthropic API key is not used; Natived Spaces uses our server-side API key.

When you use Pair on a Note page, the app sends your prompt, selected Claude model, anonymous install UUID, and nearby note context. The frontend captures about 750 characters before and after the cursor, and the backend caps note context sent to the AI proxy at 3000 characters.

When you use Auto Reminder or Auto Slidecard with a PDF, the PDF file is read locally on your device. Natived Spaces extracts text and table content locally, selects up to 6000 characters of relevant text, and sends that extracted text with your anonymous install UUID to our AI proxy. The PDF file itself is not uploaded by the app.

We do not intentionally store AI request payloads in our own database. Request metadata and logs may be processed or retained by Vercel, Upstash, and Anthropic according to their own policies and the plans we use.

AI usage limits

AI features currently share a limit of 25 calls per day per anonymous install UUID. The daily counter resets automatically and is stored in Upstash Redis / Vercel KV.

What we store on our backend

Data Purpose Retention
Anonymous install UUID Recognize an install for launch counts and AI rate limits Until removed from our backend storage
Session count by UUID Aggregate app launch analytics Until removed from our backend storage
Daily AI call count by UUID Prevent abuse and enforce the 25-call daily limit Expires automatically after about 24 hours
AI request text Generate AI responses through Claude Not intentionally stored by Natived Spaces; handled transiently by our proxy and third-party providers

Third-party services

  • Vercel - hosts the website and serverless API proxy; processes runtime request metadata and logs.
  • Upstash Redis / Vercel KV - stores anonymous install UUIDs, session counts, and daily AI rate-limit counters.
  • Anthropic Claude - receives AI prompts, selected note context, extracted PDF text, and model settings needed to generate AI responses.

Relevant third-party policies: Vercel Privacy Policy, Vercel Runtime Logs, Upstash Legal Documents, Anthropic Privacy Policy, and Anthropic Commercial Terms.

No accounts, cookies, or ad tracking

Natived Spaces does not require an account. We do not use advertising pixels, third-party analytics SDKs, behavioral ad tracking, or cookies for the desktop app. The website is static and does not intentionally set cookies.

Sensitive information

Do not submit passwords, API keys, payment information, health information, government identifiers, or other highly sensitive data into AI features. Natived Spaces is a student productivity tool, not a secure vault or regulated records system.

Children

Natived Spaces is not directed to children under 13. If you are under 13, do not use Natived Spaces or submit content to AI features without permission and supervision from a parent or guardian.

Deleting your local data

To delete all locally stored data, quit the app and remove the app data folder:

macOS:

  • Open Finder, then choose Go > Go to Folder.
  • Enter ~/Library/Application Support/NativedSpaces/.
  • Delete the folder.

Windows:

  • Press Win + R, enter %LOCALAPPDATA%\Natived\NativedSpaces\, then press Enter.
  • Delete the folder.

Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete this folder. Deleting the folder removes your local workspace data and local anonymous ID. Reinstalling after deletion creates a fresh anonymous ID.

Deleting backend UUID records

Because Natived Spaces does not use accounts or verified identity, we cannot look up your backend records by name or email. If you contact us with your anonymous ID, we can try to delete server-side records tied to that ID where feasible.

Security

Local workspace security depends on your device, operating system account, file permissions, and backups. Data sent to our backend, Upstash, and Anthropic is transmitted over HTTPS. No internet service is risk-free.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, or limit certain personal information. Natived Spaces currently does not collect account details such as name, email, payment information, or mailing address, but your anonymous ID and any content you choose to send to AI features may be treated as personal information under some laws. Contact us if you have a privacy request.

Terms of Use

Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Natived Spaces, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

Permitted use

You may use Natived Spaces for lawful personal productivity, study, and note-taking. You may not use the app to break the law, infringe others' rights, abuse the AI service, bypass rate limits, attack our infrastructure, or redistribute or resell the app without permission.

Your content

Your notes, spaces, cards, and other content remain yours. Natived Spaces claims no ownership over your workspace content. Because the app stores workspace data locally, you are responsible for backing it up and protecting your device.

AI output

AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your situation. Review AI output before relying on it, especially for academic, professional, legal, medical, financial, or safety-related decisions.

No warranty

Natived Spaces is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or fit for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Natived Spaces and its contributors will not be liable for lost data, lost profits, indirect damages, incidental damages, consequential damages, or other losses arising from use of the app.

Changes

We may update the app or this page over time. Continued use of Natived Spaces after changes means you accept the updated terms and policy.
